Personal Critique: The Fear of Life Transitioning
Much like the Fear of Death, there is also the fear of a life transition. For example, I'm going through a job transition. Even now, I'm working with the local Job Security Office, NC Works. Such a transition is hard to emotionally get over. Yet, many are thinking: how do you cope with it? How do you grow from it? And how do you go past it to the next chapter in your life? I'm not brazen to claim I have the answers, but I still wish to offer my experiences as I explain my own transition, and how it affected me, even now.How Do You Cope With It?
Understand that life-changing is far more constant than things remaining the same. Even the rising of the sun and the setting of the same thing is different in its own way. Ultimately, you must understand that yes, there are many ways to cope when life goes in a different direction. So long as you are alive and well, life will continue to challenge you at every step; meaning, don't be too surprised at what's in store. These transitions are the best way for people to grow from their experiences in life. Unless God says otherwise, it's far too early to give up; don't beat a dead horse, but don't throw in the towel either.Do You Grow From It?
YES, you do grow from the transition. First off, you are working on your life to being better. That's the critical point in all of this. Improvement for the better is something to be celebrated and encouraged. For once your 'house' is in order, you aid others more efficiently; no sense to help out others when you can't even stand on your own financially or personally.Second, this is temporary but NECESSARY and do not let anyone tell you differently. Don't take for granted the opportunity that you have to be better for granted. The fact you even HAVE such an opportunity is a blessing in disguise. It's your chance to turn things around and to make your situation better, so don't feel so embarrassed or entitled that you can't see the gift that is given.
Third, improvement is not to be ashamed of. Many of us that are still where we are at in life and are MISERABLE about it failed to do what you're doing now: improve the situation. Sure, you're going to get mocked or talked about; you are working on towards something better. The only way left for you is forward.
Finally, the process makes the character; shaping how you see yourself in the future. This is the most critical moment that you have to you; make it count. Form habits that will build you up and make you successful each day, take care of the body that you have as best you can with eating and exercise, and most importantly, remember that effort always rewards those that apply to it.
When Can You Say You Are Past It?
That depends on how much you wish to transition from. Just understand that the greater the transition will take a greater amount of time in that transition. If you want to go from broke to billionaire, you're going to have quite a mountain to climb as well as the time it will take; there will also be some bumps, pitfalls, and setbacks along the way, all while fighting the inevitable march of time. If you're planning to get yourself into a better position at where you work or a better place to work, that may not take as much effort; effort is still required, all the same.
But the biggest indicator of whether or not you 'made it' is that if what you found at the end gives you a sense of peace. Having peace and calmness of mind is worth far more than gold, power, and status combined. It's that moment when what you achieved is rewarding to you and you are at peace with where you are, and what you do.
I'm not there at all...despite the years on this earth, and in this country called "The United States of America" that I have walked on...not yet. However, my peace is closely tied to my joy; my joy comes from God, and He does give me joy. Knowing this, I know my peace will come. I must wait on Him with His Perfect Timing; a struggle I still must contend with...even though I do not understand it.

So What Now?
Truth be told, all we can do is continue to transition ourselves into the better lives we make for ourselves and for others. It is a constant process, one that requires us to cope with where we are, grow from the experience and when you DO get past your present circumstances, you will know of a sense of peace that is worth more than anything you can ever attain. Once that is achieved, the fear of life transitioning will be less intimidating/vexing. Now go out there and transition to a better life!
